Santos secured playing grounds at KGVI

For years now Santos FC has been using the above grounds in the absence of any lease agreements. This was made possible through the networking established by Santos officials who are also staff at KG VI - Chris Asipara, Willy Waroka and Willy Okekini.

We are now moving towards a proper lease agreement. At an annual cost of $1000.00 fee rental, we are working towards securing a permanent place where Santos will call home. Last week KG VI allocated to us a space in front of Form 7 hostel.

Training ground is a scarce resource in Honiara and Santos FC really appreciated this friendship gesture from KG VI, over the years.

Thank you KG VI staff and management.

Friendly ended up in draw ((18/07/007)

Rangers o and Santos o. First half not good. Second half saw Santos executing instructions from coaches and there were very good chances, that were not converted, where you only have the keeper to beat.

Good learning game for the boys and coach. Santos was playing without some key players up front.

Solo 2 - PNG 1

Solo won by one goal over PNG. Solo was the better side, but defence and strikers seem to be a problem. Defense clamsy at times and had it been Fiji strikers with strong powerful bullet strikings, Solo would have conceded almost 4 goals. There were four clear chances but Davani of PNG was not on target or powerful with his shoots on goal.

On the other hand there were two clear chances where only the keeper was to beat and yet Solo strikers were not that accurate.

But the good thing is that these are areas that the coach need to work on (strikers and back line) before next month, in Samoa.

We had new faces in the Solo team namely Goodwin Bebeu, young Toata Molea, Taro etc. They need more games to built their confidence.

Good luck solo team in your preparations, from Santos FC.

PNG 2 - KOSA 1

Playing without their key players in the likes of Omokirio, Naka and Takayama, Kosa was still strong on the field. They had more than 3 clear chances, including a penalty in the first half, but were unable to convert them into goals. Kosa dominated this half.

In the second half it was PNG's turn and they made good use of their chances to win the game. Their overseas based striker Davani made no mistake as he scored twice for his side.

Tommorrow's encounter would be a game to watch. Solomon's preparation will be put to the test and PNG under a new Brazillian coach would want to stamp their name in Oceania soccer, though they will be absent form SP games in Samoa.

Game starts at 4 pm solomon time, as there are SDA players in the Solo team.

SANTOS FC ENGAGES NEW AND YOUNG COACH

Mr. Isaac Manaore will now become the Club's new coach unofficially at this stage, following recent informal discussions by the three Executive Committee Members namely the President, Treasurer and Secretary due to the ongoing unexplained absence of the current coach at the training ground during the past several weeks.

The President met up with Mr.Issac Manaore on 09.07.07 and purchased a pair of soccer boots and socks for the latter which cost $155.00.

Mr. Manaore will attend at the training ground in the afternoon of 09.07.07 in order to meet the players, club officials to have a feel and look of how things have been progressing so far. It is
anticipated that Mr. Manaore will unofficially introduce himself to everyone present and hint on what his training programme will be like for the following weeks. The enagagement of Mr. Manaore is not a replacement for the current coach but rather a complement. The current coach is most welcomed to come in and do trainings for the boys during the days where Mr. Manaore will not be present or he can still come in and help out when Mr. Manaore is
doing the trainings for the boys.
MORE NEW PLAYERS INTERESTED IN SIGNING FOR SANTOS FC

Five (5) new players have confirmed to the President their interest in joining and registering with Santos FC for the 2007 Division 1 HFA DJ League. The players are: - Mike Tahi (Marist FC - Super League), Robinson Wakio (Las United - relegated to Division 1), Sanga (Island Brothers FC - Division 1), James (Kukum Bombers FC- Division 2) and Dave Hiba Riuta’a (LS Kuma FC - Division 1)

In fact four (4) of the said players namely Mike, Robinson, Sanga and James have already played for Santos FC during the recent 7 aside soccer knockout competition organized by the Kukum Bombers FC at the Kukum Market playing ground on Sunday 1st July 2007. The team’s performance was fantastic but unfortunately the boys had to vow out in a penalty shoot out in the quarterfinal against the might of Beach Boys 1 which fielded most Super League players.

The Santos FC Management welcomes the said 5 intending new signings as they will add the much needed strength and experience in all key positions in the current squad. Their playing positions are as follows: Mike Tahi (Defender), Robinson Wakio (Midfielder), Dave Hiba Riuta’a (Midfielder) Sanga (Striker) and James (Goal Keeper). In the meantime, the Santos FC Management will be moving to finalize the players’ transfer conditions and requirements in respect of the concerned players with the HFA and the concerned clubs before the start of the 2007 league season.

The major and historic signing for Santos FC would be in respect of Mr. Mike Tahi who has played in the top Super League Division for Marist FC in last year’s HFA DJ league season. To have him in Division 1 with Santos FC would be a huge bonus for the club and a motivating or morale booster for other players.

Santos daily training lost momentum

Daily trainings at KG grounds has lost momentum in the last two weeks. But the reasons are obvious and appreciated. Bad weather, school holidays and lack of proper coaching programs set for players. Later reason is closely being monitored by Management and a probable solution would be a replacement of the coach for 2007. This is a matter for management to solve. All I am saying now is, it has become a problem and I am suggesting a solution.

For now I wish to extend greetings to friends who may be visiting this site, a joyous independence celebrations. In the last 29 years we have developed in the area of sports as well. For example when I was a boy there was no lawson tama as we now have (a development in sports infrastructure).

Thank you and regards!!

Santos out in Round 3

Santos went out from tournament through penalty after playing the same team twice.

After first 14 minutes of play, Santos and Beach boys A went to penalty shoot out and after 7 players from both teams each having their shots, there was still a tie. Beach boys complained that Santos fielded a player who played with a losing team in the tournament. Win awarded to Beach boys, but Santos argued that all the other teams were qulity of the same. It was then decided that they should replay again.

After another 14 minutes of play there was again a tie. There was penalty shoots and Beach boys won 3 -1. This game was a dirty one with Misitana (Marist player) making a lot of foul plays but Santos was mentally fit. We encourage fair play.

Thanks to those boys who completed the game. Beach boys A were the eventual winners of the tournament, walking away with $600.
