Santos plays Toba Kings today (1/11/007)

Santos is playing without some of its key players this afternoon. Leslie Haikau, Mike Hui and Captains Augustine and Darwin are not available. Augustine injured. Darwin must be busy with F/6 exams preparation. Leslie and Mike are attending selection trial with Central Province u/23 squard, in Tulagi.

In spite of that Santos will still be strong and we are going with one aim - to win.

Will keep you posted on the result this evening.

Thanks - JAK (1/11/007).

Santos 1 - Northern United 4

Santos lost the game, in a game where our mistakes costed us dearly. We made mistakes and the opponent capitalised on those mistakes and converted goals. On the other hand they made mistakes too (more than us, I should say), but we failed to do what matters (convert into goals).

On more than 10 occassions, we had clear chances (only keeper to beat) and failed to convert into goals. One was a missed PENALTY in the first half.

Santos plays its next game next Thursady against Toba Kings.

Santos -v- Northern United this Thursday (25/10/007)

The above game will be played at KGVI South field at 3:30 pm local time.

Boys resume training yesterday in high spirit and are looking forward to the game on Thursday. In theory and going by history, this should be an easy win game for Santos. But days are not the same and only after the final whistle will the result be known.

Yesterday afternoon, Mark Wilson Wate walked away with the "Critical goal award" for scoring the winning goal against LS Kuma last Saturday.

Thanks for now and will keep you posted on the result this Friday.

Santos 1 - LS Kuma 0

The above is the result of last Saturday's game (20/10/007). The result came after a lot of hard work and cooperation both on and off the field. A lot of soul searching, game analysis, reflections on the first two games, mending differences and you name it occurred before the game during the camping at night at Keniapisia's residence. A change of meal was also implemented where players preferred to have a heavy meal in the morning before game intead of normal tea and bread.

On the field both teams have equal strenghts. But Santos midfield and strikers were better compared to LS Kuma. LS Kuma defence was good especially tall defenders did well to contain Santos strikers, more so when Santos could not manage to keep the ball on the ground at front. They did in the last dying minutes through substitute striker Charlie Houka at front and it paid off when the only goal was scored 2 minutes into the full time. That happened as a result of short, ground, skillful and one touch passes between Mark Wate and Charlie Houka. Doing so they managed to break through the defence in style and Mark Wate converted from a well placed through pass ball by Charlie. Both palyers are short fellas (Maradona feature) from Hautahe club, East Are' Are.

LS Kuma had few chances, but their striking was the problem. They do not have deadly strikers. Santos goal keeper had a real problem in his timing. Almost costed Santos on a few occassions.

This result was long awaited and should set the scene for the remaining games. Next game this Thursday against Island Brothers (I think).

Till then bye for now and will keep you posted.

Premier game results : Kosa 3 - Laugu 0 and Marist 3 - Agfa Hana 2.

Santos game against LS Kuma on 20/10/007

Santos marched into camp this Friday a head of its game against LS Kuma this Saturday.

To have a good chance of a good position for any of the 4 prizes and to play in the knock out for the 2 places to represent Honiara in the SI club championship next year, Santo must start winning its games hereafter.

The game on Saturday should provide a golden opportunity to play with class and improvement, having played together for 2 games already.

A head of the games on Friday night, boys will camp again as usual at John Keniapisia's residence.

Thanks - JAK (15/10/007).

SANTOS FC 1 - LAS UNITED FC 1

Santos FC played its second match of the HFA 2007-2008 DJ League Division 1 against Las United FC in the morning of Saturday 6th October 2007 around 10.00am at the KGVI North Field.

The match was evently battled out during the first half in the blistering heat. The Las United FC midliefld was fast onto the ball each time the Santos FC midfield wanted to control the ball and did not give Santos midfield the chance to dribble - a tactic which worked to Las United FC's advantage and which prevented Santos FC midfield from making any through passes to its strikers and scoring any goals in the first half.

In the second half, Las United FC opened the scoreboard from its unmarked left flanker on the blind side ( a similar type of scoring that Junior Flamingo FC made against Santos FC in its first match) and began to play more confident football.

This did not prevent Santos FC boys to regroup and build up on their attacks against the defence line of Las United. This paid off somewhere through mid way second half when a korner kick has been forced upon Las United defenders trying to contain the Santos speedy right flanker Leslie Haikau. A Leslie's well-taken corner kick came from a scuffle in front of the goal mouth perfectly onto the waiting boot of Santos defender Luke Ha'atarea who wasted no time in quickly blasting the ball passed the Las United FC goalkeeper's lefthand side.

Santos looked to be more in control of the match after their equalizer in the second half and searched tirelessly for the winning goal but Las United FC also put up a strong defence line and were made to work extra harder not to concede any further goals. The scoreline was tied up at 1-1 draw at full time.

Prior to this match, the Santos boys had gone into camp at the Club Treasurer (Mr. John Keniapisia's residence) on the night of Friday 5th October 2007 (Pictures of the said camp and the Santos -LAS United match can be seen in the pictures section below).

More updates will be coming up in relation to the next two matches for Santos, that is, against Lau Valley FC and Kolei United FC

Response to Jeff Rahari

In the latest posting (few minutes ago), I responded to your email and posting on this web page but forgot to write my name so it appeared as Henry Kausimae.

My email is down. Please come back ASP, as we need a few more soccer balls urgently.

Its your brother JK from Waimapuru days, if you are that Jeff that I mean.

Thanks - From JAK (JK).

Response to Jeff Rahari

Brother Jeff, its a blessing to see your keen interest and kind heart in offering to assist Santos. I am posting here cos my email is down and I need to get back to you urgently.

Santos has 2 soccer balls only so if you can assist buy some balls we will appreciate that. Those $20.00 soccer balls in NZ are good. I was in NZ in 2003 (Uni of Waikato), and has seen the prices then.

You can buy from NZ and send via big parcels in the normal mail. Alternatively you can send money and we'll buy this end. For your information good soccer balls in SI costs $150 plus. Please indicate which option you would like to take.

Yes I can recall those times you and Tony Harihiru were with Santos and the others. We want to organise the boys do something better.

I am proud of you Jeff. I always believe that we can export our human resources and you are an evidence to that. Keep it up.

And do not forget those Waimapuru memories, especially the good ones.
