DJ LEAGUE RESTARTS JANUARY 22, 2008 SAYS HFA

By ROMULUS HUTA –‘STAR SPORTS’ – ISSUE NO.3514 THURSDAY 27 DECEMBER 2007

The DJ League resumes January 22, 2008 with the season’s ending by March 2008.

Honiara Football Association Administrator Barnabas Loloito confirmed this to Star Sports yesterday.

He said the start date applies to all three divisions in the Honiara Football Association DJ League.

The league was brought to a halt by last month’s Our Telekom Cup Championship and the festive season.

Marist FC currently lead the premier division with 18 points followed by Uncles on 14.

In division one, Junior Flamengo is on the top, whilst KGVI Snails lead division two.

KGVI Snails are new comers to the Honiara league. Students attending King George Sixth School are playing for the team.

So far, there were also a few surprises in the league. For instance, Rangers, which made up of young and talented players, some of whom are in the national squad, have yet to register a win after five games in the premier division.

In the first division, former premier division sides Las United and DMP, remained at the bottom of the ladder. Both sides were relegated after their poor showing in the premier division.

In division two, league hopefuls Isa United and Rainbow, are also struggling to make an impact.

There are definitely still no clear leaders in all three divisions, as teams have a number of games at hand.

Meanwhile, Loloito said they are yet to finalize the match schedules for the New Year.

Correction on HFA DJ league progressive tally

Today's star sports reported that Santos is at fourth placing as at 19/12/007, after having played 7 games.

This is not true. Santos played 8 games as at 19/12/007. Won 4, drew 2 and lost 2. Total points is 14 and not 11 as reported. Has 3 games remaining.

Thanks.

JEFF RAHARI FROM NZ ASSIST SANTOS FC

President and I opened the box containing Jeff's assistance at lunch time today. In the box were 2 soccer balls (match balls quality ones) and 2 soccer tops (spain and arsenal). Jeff is an Areka man residing and working in NZ. He has been in contact with us about this assistance some months ago. Jeff has a real heart to help his fellow country men excel in football and we appreciate very much that kind gesture, goodwill and assistance. Jeff and I did Form 6 at Waimapuru way back in 1992. He was in the Science. I was in Arts. We were both leaders of the Southern region of Malaita students body at school then.

If I place an estimate dollar value on the assistance in SBD dollars the assistance would be valued at around $600-$700. This is no small money and I really lift my hat up to you my brother Jeff. Ofcourse we always appreciate other helpers in the past too.

My first thought on the 2 soccer tops is to sell them and use the money to buy something of common use for the club, say training cones or soccer balls. Collective decision will be made later.

Photos will be posted later. Could not have them today as Henry's camera was borrowed.

With this assistance, Santos now has 12 soccer balls as at today (6/12/07). One needs repair before use.

Once again on behalf of players and management, thanks very much Jeff and wish you merry x-mas.
